Information about living in the City centre of The Hague

The Noordeinde Palace, Binnenhof and Mauritshuis are well known to locals, though the city centre has much more to offer. From small, cute boutique shops to the best restaurants, a diverse offering of museums, and strong cultural foundation. The different streets and squares each have their own atmosphere and background. A small selection of famous streets that are fun to visit are the Lange and Korte Poten, Spui, Grote Markt, het Plein, Venestraat, the Bierkade and the Noordeinde.

Old buildings, many of which are in the original state from before the second world war, and new buildings alternate. Together they form the unique skyline of the royal city of The Hague

For expats working in one of the surrounding cities who commute by train, the city centre is a perfect place to live as the Central Station and Hollands Spoor train station are very accessible and have good connections. A.o. the Regentessekwartier, Zeeheldenkwartier, Benoordenhout and Bezuidenhout are adjacent to the centre. No other city in the Netherlands has two major train stations.
