Housing permit The Hague
A housing permit is an approval from the municipality that you may live in a social rental home or a mid-rent home. A social rental home is a cheap rental home with a maximum rent of up to €900.07. A mid-rent home has a maximum of 186 points or a rent of up to €1,184.82. With a housing permit, the municipality can ensure that these homes are only rented to people with a low or mid-income.
Points are used to determine the rent of a home. The number of points a home receives determines how high the rent is. Is the home large, or very energy-efficient? Then the home receives more points. The more points a home has, the higher the rent.
The permit is required:
- for an independent home that has 186 or less points. The rent price does not matter. For more information.
- for an independent home with a rent of up to €1,184.82 per month. Also if the home has more than 186 points.
The permit is not required if you:
- you already rented your home before July 1, 2019
- rent a room (non-independent living space)
- you rent your home with others who do not form a sustainable joint household
